Newsflash: Creating a Sustainable Gryffe has become a membership organisation. We were keen to offer more routes for the community to get involved in what we do, and to have ways for the community to inform what we focus on in future projects. Members have a vote at our AGM, but will also have ways to identify priorities of what we work on, and it’ll also mean that the Trustees have a greater responsibility to inform and engage with the local community. All of this may lead to Creating a Sustainable Gryffe becoming a Community Trust, if members feel that this would be the best way forward. Community Trusts are able to generate income and purchase assets and while this is at present way in the future for us, we want to get the foundations right through being a membership organisation.
What this means is that you can become a member and influence what Sustainable Gryffe is about, including standing for election as a Trustee. Membership is free of charge. There are three types of membership: Ordinary membership for anyone ordinarily resident in Bridge of Weir or Houston over the age of 16; youth membership for young people aged 12-15 resident in Bridge of Weir or Houston; associate membership for those not resident in the two villages but with a link to or stake in the area. Becoming a member is very easy: just complete this form and you’ll be kept in touch of everything relevant to members without filling up your inbox. There is no expectation of commitment or time, this is entirely up to the individual.
